Financial emergencies don’t follow a schedule. Flat tires, leaky rooftops, or unexpected bills can pop-up without warning to disrupt your financial life, which is why Southern Bancorp and Southern Bancorp Community Partners are encouraging you to take the pledge to save during America Saves Week (February 27-March 4).
And we aren’t alone.
We’ve joined with savings advocates in Arkansas and Mississippi to help proclaim this week one in which we all focus on saving for the future!
In an official proclamation, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant declared that this week would be one in which Mississippians are called on to “increase 401k contributions, start or increase an emergency fund, initiate or increase a savings fund, establish an education savings fund, or take other positive wealth-building action during Mississippi Saves Week and pledge to sustain that action during the following year.”
In Arkansas, State Rep. Monte Hodges proclaimed through House Resolution 1028 that Arkansas families who save “can accelerate the path to homeownership . . . better provide education and skills training for children beyond K-12, and increase the number of financially stable families in Arkansas.”
