Coahoma County
After a year of intense planning with the help of over 550 Coahoma citizens, in January 2012 the Coahoma County Delta Bridge Project released a dynamic 10 year Strategic Plan that focuses on developing its fast growing international tourism industry, re-energizing downtown revitalization, and addressing education, housing, healthcare, and leadership opportunities. SBCP received a HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant for Coahoma County, which will extend the boundaries of the initial planning to include environmental issues as well. During 2011, several projects have been initiated: the Sunflower River Weir, Clarksdale/Coahoma County Clean-up, the Pre-Kindergarten Concept, and the KaBoom playground. Over $1,030,000 of investment has been leveraged for community priorities in Coahoma County through the Delta Bridge Project.
Following the example of the highly successful Phillips County Delta Bridge Project, the Delta Bridge Project of Coahoma County is committed to partnering with the many viable entities in the County, the Delta and the Mid-South to help achieve the goals and objectives set forth in the strategic plan.
