Southern Bancorp Community Partners helps families learn to take charge of their economic futures through financial education. Our financial education classes teach valuable and practical skills, focusing on financial goal-setting, budgeting, credit management, and using financial services wisely. We also provide asset-specific classes that focus on home ownership and maintenance, small business start-up and expansion, and post-secondary education. Our homebuyer class demystifies the home purchase process.

Classes Include:

  1. Money Management – Understand the importance of money management and budgeting and start your own financial planning.
  2. Spending as a Habit – Saving as a Goal – Learn about spending habits and use this knowledge for future spending as well as saving.
  3. Financial Services – Learn about different kinds of bank products as well as how to use them.
  4. Credit Management – Solving Debt Problems –  Learn the importance of maintaining and repairing credit.
  5. Renting, Leasing, Buying – Consider different ways to finance the things you need or want.
  6. Asset Specific
    • Homeownership - Class focuses on programs and options for homebuyers; also includes planning strategies for home maintenance, repair, and improvement.
    • Small Business – The participant will work with a local business development center or the U.S. Small Business Administration to learn about opening and running a business and creating a Business Plan.
    • Education – Participants will gain an understanding of the requirements and skills necessary for post-secondary/vocational education, and learn about financing options.
  7. HUD-certified Homeownership – Focus in-depth on strategies for home purchase.
